GT and I discussed the part of the novel that he had read for homework. We discussed the recurring themes throughout the novel along with character, conflict and plot. GT answered a brief essay quiz on this part of the novel complete with correctly cited textual evidence. GT did a good job. We then completed his vocabulary book. We finished the final review in the book. GT began taking the final test on the entire vocabulary book. He is doing well. He will need to finish the test next class. GT will continue reading the novel for homework.
GT and I watched a CrashCourse in Economics video about market failures and how the government steps in to help in those situations. The video was from 2015, so we discussed how this applies to today and the current economic situation with COVID.
Assignment
Prepare for your final project presentation due Tuesday
GT and I talked more about the next chapter in "Think and Grow Rich". Then, we reviewed the different market structures and began talking about globalization. We read through an article that explored the recent events with COVID and how globalization is and will be affected as a result.
GT and I learned about different market types including: monopoly, perfect competition, monopolistic competition, and oligopoly, the benefits of each as well as the differences and potential problems each can result in, in the economy.
GT and I discussed more of "Think and Grow Rich" and some requirements/ideas for his final project due next week. We talked through costs, ways to possibly scale, and how to figure out what demand is in the existing market.
GT and I are trying to complete his vocabulary book. We worked on the activities in the last review section of the book. GT will take a final on all of the words in the book next week. We are reviewing and preparing for that. We also discussed the section of the book that GT had read for homework. We discussed recurring themes. GT will continue reading the novel for homework.
In this activity, GT is now focusing on solving various exponential equations using the eight rules of logarithms. Gt has shown proficiency in solving all exponential equations. His next topic is solving logarithmic equations using the same eight rules.
GT completed two activities. The first activity used change of base formula to solve exponential equations and the second activity used the basic rules of logarithms to solve the equations.

TEAMS: Taxonomy / Animals - Amphibians -
After reviewing the characteristics of Chordates, and fish, we moved to learn about the class: Amphibia. These animals are cold blooded, oviparous, gills and lungs, no eggshells. They have the most remarkable metamorphosis of all animals, and include salamanders, newts, frogs and toads. We watched an episode of BBC’s ‘Life in Cold Blood’ which highlighted different species of amphibians including: the Panamanian golden frog (now extinct in the wild), the Japanese salamander (largest) , caecilian (legless salamander) , the amazon tree frogs, and the African bull frog. David Attenborough described the males often care for the young, and parental investment is not rare.

TEAMS: Taxonomy / Animals - Fish -
GT and I reviewed the characteristics of Chordates, and the specific requirements of Fish: cold blood, oviparous, scales, gills, no eggshells. There are three classes of Fish: Agnatha (jawless), Chondrichthyes (cartilaginous), and Osteichthyes (boney). We watched a dissection of a Perch, concentrating on the digestive system, gills, liver, heart, brain, and reproductive organs. We watched short videos highlighting different fish species: mudskipper, sailfish, flying fish, and the sarcastic fringe head. We briefly discussed climbing goby, climbing very high waterfalls and moving from salt water to freshwater.
