Math – Jonathan worked on a quiz on counting coins. He was able to name the coins and add several different combinations of coins.
Science – We read about the bottlenose dolphin. We learned that it is a mammal not a fish. It is one of the smartest marine animals. Dolphins like to have fun and play like we do. Next we learned that they eat squid, octopus, and fish and live 30 to 50 years.

Jonathan shared what he knew about Martin Luther King, Jr. He completed a trifold on MLK that included reading a passage and answering questions, writing something new he learned from the passage, naming traits of MLK, matching vocabulary to pictures and drawing a picture of MLK. We discussed the importance and impact of MLK's work.

Math – Jonathan worked in his math workbook on Lesson 10: Solve Word Problems Involving Money. Next he worked on solving a riddle by finding answers to addition and subtraction problems. He is ready to explore new math concepts every day.
Science – We continued working on a STEM project involving creativity in the design process. We continued working on changing circles into other objects.

Math – Jonathan was introduced to counting coins. He is proficient in counting 10 pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters. Next he identified each coin value and what is printed on each side. Jonathan practiced making change with real coins.
Science – We worked on a STEM project involving creativity in the design process. Next we read the book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. Then we talked about how being a STEM engineer requires creativity and thinking of new ways to do things. Next we changed ordinary circles into other objects. This was something Jonathan really enjoyed because he loves to draw. He was encouraged to add many details and color.
