Today we continued working on recognizing chord shapes and note placement. Jonathan enjoyed playing "Hit the Road Jack" on the piano and is continuing to improve.
Jonathan enjoyed decorating a picture of a hat to go along with his 'If the Cat in the Hat Came to My House' writing activity. Given a list of words, he confidently circled the suffixes -y, -ly, and -ty and drew a line under the root of each word. Additionally, he read 'How do we Celebrate God's Forgiveness and Healing' and wrote what he was grateful for in his religion journal.
We had a discussion about the previous day and reviewed use of the verb "Ser". We completed page 25 and watched a video in Spanish. We completed a worksheet in Spanish with comprehension questions over the video.
Jonathan and I began our session with submitting completed work from the week thus far. We then listened to a Dr. Seuss read aloud, "Wacky Wednesday". Following the read aloud, Jonathan created a new class logo (maybe a little wacky) that best tells us about his homeroom. Jonathan chose to do his logo about The Batt School instead of St. Catharines. Jonathan then wrote a descriptive writing describing the logo, completing this with another teacher.

Lesson Comments
I was a substitute. Jonathan enjoyed working with Kellan and I.
Jonathan shot pictures outside today to begin to discover the role of director of photography for film. He focused on close-up, mid-shot, wide-shot and edited "in camera" images to show various emotional effects of colorizing and image.

Lesson Comments
Jonathan had some difficulty with subjects or ideas to shoot but really took to the editing process of an image. So we are concentrating on a sequence of images and framing the shot.
Math – Jonathan continued to recognize and draw shapes. He drew shapes to identify the number of sides, vertices, and angles. Next he identified shapes based on drawings. Then he sorted shapes to determine which were cubic and which were not cubic. Then he determined which shapes were two-dimensional and which were three-dimensional.
Science – We began a lab report for creating a Newtonian fluid called Oobleck. We determined the materials needed for the experiment. Then we created a hypothesis and questions to answer.
Jonathan listened to the read aloud 'Happy Birthday to You!' by Dr. Seuss before he completed the writing activity 'If the Cat in the Hat came to my House' in his writing journal. He finished with 15 minutes on getepic.com with the story 'Creature Campers'.
