Kellan continues to draw his caricatures for the Bill of Rights. He is reviewing the 50 states and their capitals. He is learning about the Oceania Islands, their peoples, and their differing cultures.
Kellan worked on a multiplication word problem to begin. Then, our lesson focused on how to interpret data using line plots. Kellan practiced reading line plot headings and scales to understand the presented data before answering data-related questions. Kellan read and discussed an article about the islands of Oceania. He made a caricature of the 3rd amendment. He read and discussed his new vocabulary words for this unit on Oceania.
Kellan began with the daily review questions on finding the area by counting unit squares and writing the unit fraction of a given model. Then, we reviewed how to subtract fractions with like denominators before Kellan took the lesson's quick assessment. Finally, we worked on the concept of mixed numbers and improper fractions and how to model them with number lines or quick pictures.
Kellan reviewed types of plant roots: aerial roots, fibrous roots, prop roots and tap roots. He drew and labeled illustrations of fibrous roots and prop roots. He read the definitions of the types of roots and wrote them in his own words.
