Today Penny was assessed on her current math skills with counting to 100. Penny did well up until 50 and was not sure of the numbers 50, 60, 70, 80, 90. Penny also was mixing up the numbers 6 and 9. We also practiced writing numbers 1-10 and counting in real life with counting trees, gummy bears, and so forth. Lastly, Penny worked on computer math practice on Starfall.com.
Created bark art by using a pencil, crayon, and paper. Placed the paper against different tree trunks to get a pattern on the paper. Collected sticks to make our "Thanks"giving tree. Cut out pink and purple "leaves". Talked about what we say "thank you" to God about to then write on the leaves.
Penny confidently drew lines from the name of a body part to the corresponding body part in a picture. We went over the five senses and what body part is used for each sense. Given a picture, Penny did well determining which sense(s) the object would use. We talked about wearing different clothes in different types of weather. Penny sorted clothes by the type of weather in which they would be worn. Penny 'painted' on the computer for the last few minutes.
Match a picture that begins with the letter on the card. Letters are in upper and lower case.
Princess Candy Land - count the spaces between each move. Recognize the colors of the spaces matching the cards.
Used critical thinking skills while playing the noodle game. Noodle sticks are placed overlapping a bowl and then the little toy monster is on top. Decide which stick to pull without having the monster fall to the bottom of the bowl.
Classified puzzle piece items into their correct group (hot, cold, big, small, hear, smell, eat, fly). We talked about how some items could fit into more than one group.
Memory game - remembering where to find the matched card.
I-spy outside game. Telling the person if they are getting cold by walking away from the item or getting hot as they are walking closer to the item.
I showed Penny the now baked arms. She was given a chance to feel the texture and understand how the sculpture would feel after being completed. Penny placed the arms to the side, she rolled out some clay, placed tinfoil on it, and wrapped it around the figure to create a dress. Penny placed the arms, created a tail, placed the tail, and we created the shoulder pads.

Penny asked for a different teacher. This is not the first time she has said this to me. I don't think we are a good match with me not having the experience working in an academic environment with a child this young. Is there someone else she can work with from 12:30 - 2? Sorry for any inconvenience.
We started the session with a review of the letter and sound of the week as listed on Mrs. Ford’s curriculum guide. Using the book, ”Get Ready for the Code” book A
she matched the pictures with the sound and completed a listen and follow direction activity. Next she practiced writing her numbers 1-5. Lastly, using felt stick on letters she practiced spelling and reading sight words me, is, and no.
