Identify Upper/Lower Case Letters and Letter sounds – A Mini Assessment - Using letter cards Penny gave me the names and sounds of the letters.
I masked off the Wonder Woman portion of Penny's painting. Penny was instructed to choose paints that she would like to use for her background, she chose sea-breeze blue and a soft purple. I poured some of the paint over the canvas, we covered the entire canvas, and I dried it once we were finished. Penny decided that she wanted to add pink hearts to the background, so I painted outlines for the hearts and she filled them in. Once everything dried Penny peeled the mask to reveal a completed background.
Sight Words – Using her word ring, we sorted the words and looked for duplicates, reading them as we went through the wheel. With the duplicates we played a “Concentration” game.
Penny practiced recognizing the words for numbers. Penny also practiced reading sentences with the leveled readers. Penny focused on the "d" sound at the beginning and end of words. Penny also began doing mazes.

Penny explored different careers and the unique tools needs for some careers. Penny had to think about the tools, draw a picture of the tools, and write the name of the tools. We practiced sounding out the words for each tool. Penny read the story "Tom on Top" and identified words in the sentences and end punctuation. Penny was introduced to finding textual evidence in a story to help her answer the questions about a story or picture in the story. Penny practiced the "o" sound as in "mop" and "pot." Penny identified careers based on the pictures and details in the pictures that she saw. Penny also practiced adding numbers under 10 together.
Sight Words – Today she reviewed the words on her sight word ring by making sentences with the words and pictures to help complete the sentence. She was introduced to a period and exclamation marks at the end of sentences.
Letter/Sound Identification - Using watercolors Penny painted the upper and lower case letter as I made the sound of the letter.
I laid out three pieces of her box, poured paint over the pieces, and Penny painted the surfaces. I dried her work, and she repeated the process on the opposite side. I dried the surfaces, outlined five hearts on each piece of wood, and Penny painted the hearts in red and pink.
