Initial consonant Recognition and Sound - Penny and I played an initial consonant alphabet scavenger hunt game. She picked a letter from a stack of letter cards. Once the card was selected she named it, gave its sound, then had to find either something that started with that letter or find the letter in the school library.

4 Panel Painting

Penny and I worked on her Wonder Woman drawing from last class and explored different ways of painting with different brushes.

We learned about water color washes, normal pointed brushes and fan brushes. We painted the skin and larger details of her painting and while they dried, we explored different brushes on a separate sheet. She loved using the brushes to do splatter paint.
For her second panel, we're going to do a Wonder Woman symbol and splatter paint background.

Penny worked hard to write the letter of the initial sound of given pictures. She enjoyed listening to, 'If You Give a Mouse a Cookie' and did well on a cut and paste, sequencing activity related to the story. At Penny's request, we played the counting game we played yesterday.

Penny practiced writing her first and last name together. Penny also practiced writing addition problems. Then, Penny created her own math addition problems and used beans as a visual for adding. Penny created a written and visual representation of addition on paper and hung it up in her classroom.

Penny carefully traced non straight, dotted lines. She did well on a cut and paste, phonics activity in which she categorized pictures according to their initial sound. Penny enjoyed listening to the book, 'Bear Wants More'. She was tasked with drawing pictures depicting what the bear felt, saw and wanted when he came out of the cave. We identified the beginning, middle and end of the story. Additionally, Penny enjoyed playing a counting game that involved helping the bear get back to his cave.
