Nikon camera -
I showed Kelly how to use her new Nikon camera. We found the battery charger and plugged it in to get a charge working so she could use the camera. After a tour of the buttons on the camera, the battery was charged enough to show her how to control the focus control, so she could take photo with the subject off center if she chose. We then discussed how to change the f-stop to widen or narrow the frame to isolate a subject in the field of vision. Finally we discussed how to change the aperture to capture movement in a photo.

The video will involve capturing some everyday behavior of the other students, and Will is looking forward to shooting on Wednesday (maybe) and Thursday.

Video -
Will and I reviewed his video homework. I was pleased that he chose to use the tripod and talk to the camera. I asked Will if he might want to do a report or presentation on video or any other video project. He thought long and hard and suggested a fake documentary. We discussed many options and scenarios. I suggested he decide on some subjects he may want to report upon or present on video for our next class.

School photos day 6-
Today was catch up photo day, where all remaining school photos were collected. Will took all the photos, and I concentrated on making the subject comfortable. Will faced the challenges that are inevitable in a live (and hot) photo shoot, and we addressed them as a team. He did very well and succeeded in getting some very nice photos. We examined the photos, on the computer to make sure we had the correct exposure and focus, before moving from subject to subject.

Political Collage -
Will had completed his homework assignment, but used only one jpeg image, where the project used several jpeg images in a psd (PhotoShop Document) document. I showed him the proper image and we decided to name every project with ‘homework’ prefix. Will worked on the psd and seems to have decided to change the nature of his project. We talked about how to alter the background, and position the foreground image.Homework: finish preparing the subject for the political collage.

School photos day 4-
Today is picture day for the Peralta and Erickson students. Will took all the photos, and I concentrated on making the subject comfortable. Will faced the challenges that are inevitable in a live (and hot) photo shoot, and we addressed them as a team. He did very well and succeeded in getting some very nice photos. We examined the photos, on the computer to make sure we had the correct exposure and focus, before moving from student to student. I also took Will’s school photo again, as he was not happy with the photo we achieved on Tuesday. Will also took photos of some of the teachers.
