Lesson Outline
We reviewed his spelling words, their meanings, and his homework assignment for tonight. We also discussed his Wordly Wise words and their definitions in preparation for his test tomorrow. He wrote summaries for chapter 3, 4,and 5 of, "The Indian in the Cupboard." He learned to recognize the difference between the three sounds the the letters oo can make: oo in goose, oo in blood, and oo in look.
Dane and I reviewed last night's homework and completed a few problems together. Then, we reviewed how to add fractions with like denominators, how to find common denominators of fractions pairs, how to change mixed numbers to improper fractions, and how to change improper fractions to mixed numbers. Dane also completed 3-digit by 1-digit division problems. We spent the remainder of our time answering cumulative review questions on angle measures, patterns, converting metric measurements, and multi-step word problems.
Dane took a quiz on climate and did excellently! That concluded the unit on the water cycle, weather, and climate. Since Dane is curious about it, we will start the structure of living things unit next. We started discussing organisms.
We finished the national geographic documentary on Antarctica and the Arctic. Dane then made and studied a Quizlet for all the vocabulary that will be on his quiz on climate.

We reviewed his spelling words, their meanings, and his homework assignment for tonight. He wrote chapter summaries for chapters 1 and 2 of, "The Indian in the Cupboard." He read a reading comprehension story using his Wordly Wise words about the Mayflower. He answered in complete sentences questions about the story.
Dane was given two pieces of wood, and we worked together to complete the background of his display case. Dane was given the heat gun to dry the work he had completed. Dane and I went outside with a tarp and spray paint to spray the exterior of his display case black.
Dane and I began by reviewing and correcting last night's homework on interpreting bar graph data, basic geometry ideas, and solving problems using all operations. Then, Dane and I reviewed the steps to complete long division before he independently solved 3-digit by 1-digit problems. Finally, we worked on cumulative review questions on matching area models to multiplication equations, long division, comparing fractions and decimals, lines of symmetry, and 4-digit addition.
