Bobby played a race car game on freetypinggame.net that required him to type the home row keys as quickly as he could. After this, he played a Halloween typing game on the same website using all of the keys. Last, I had Bobby take a quiz typing assessment to see his typing speed.
Ethan used the www.typing.com/tutor/ website again to practice his home row. He is getting increasingly better! Keyboarding is something that must be learned by practice and repetition. He can practice this on his own anytime. His login name is eholliday and password is spoon43.
Oliver is working on more advanced lessons with using the top row keys. We then looked through the books I brought from the library sorting them into different categories to narrow our research questions down for the purpose of organizing our presentation. He also wrote a paragraph and edited it.
Today Marina continued to working diligently on her typing program. Marina should be able to complete the beginners course of the program by the end of next class. Keep up the great work Marina!
Keyboarding Lesson 2-Top Row, Research-narrowing the focus
Lesson Outline
Oliver completed lesson 1 of keyboarding and then began a new lesson using the top row of keys. He did very well and was very focused. We practiced writing a paragraph starting with what we did in keyboarding, adding details, then going back to add a few more sentences once we were done with the research. He has a chart to use to remind himself of the qualities of a good paragraph. While conducting our research I taught him how to use the public library website to find books on his topic as well as how to narrow his topic down to a few main things he would like to investigate.
