Nico was taking the MAPS Test.

We opened up Microsoft Excel and learned how to change row height and column width. Then we discovered how to create formulas to find sums, products, quotients, and differences between cells. We practiced creating files and performing calculations in Excel. We worked on learning our computer terms from our flashcards.

Unit 7 Microsoft Office Tools – We learned about features of Microsoft Word. We opened up Microsoft Word and learned about the view and zoom slider buttons. Then practiced matching our computer vocabulary to the correct definition while we created flashcards.

We worked on finishing flash cards for computer science terms. Word wasn’t working on the school PC.

Unit 6 Computer Storage Devices – We learned about magnetic and optical storage devices. We discovered the storage capacity of several different types of external drives. We learned the difference between a Blu-ray and CD-ROM disc.

Unit 5 Computer Output Devices – We practiced using the keyboard special keys for editing, printing, and moving through a file. We learned the common output devices that receive data from a computer. We learned about different types of monitors and printers as well as other devices. We learned about the different parts of output devices. Then we took a quiz on computer output devices.

Unit 7 Microsoft Office Tools – We learned about the Microsoft Office Software. We opened up Microsoft Word and learned how to change fonts, use templates, borders, design, and how to name the file to save it. We created an acrostic poster of our name.

Unit 4 Computer Input Devices – We reviewed the types and use of computer input devices. We reviewed the use of special keyboard keys on a computer keyboard such as print screen, Caps Lock, and Num Lock. Then we reviewed the types of computer input devices and the type of application for which they are used. Next, we learned the type of keyboard shortcuts to save documents, refresh the screen, and cut-and-paste within a document. On a keyboard we identified the location and use of the navigational, alphanumeric, and function keys.
