Atticus learned about density currents. He studied a diagram showing polar density current formation and answered the follow up questions. He watched a video about the global conveyor belt and we discussed.
Today's lesson focused on annotation and sentence fragments. Using the study guide homework, we first located and corrected sentence fragments. As Atticus had questions regarding some of the study guide work, I then demonstrated how to annotate the text in order to assist comprehension. Based on the annotations, we then completed the study guide questions on two chapters. By addressing the study guide work, we further practiced drawing inferences from the text .
Atticus learned about global wind systems: polar easterlies, prevailing westerlies, and trade winds. He analyzed a map of the Earth with the directions of the wind systems. He observed a map of European trade ships traveling on the trade winds. He answered the follow-up questions. He watched a video about the Coriolis effect and answered the follow-up questions.
This morning, Atticus and I worked on a review of solving one-step equations using all operations. Examples were completed on the whiteboard on using the properties of equality to isolate variables and solve equations. Then, Atticus worked online completing IXL lessons on using all operations to solve one-step equations with whole numbers, decimals, and fractions. Additional problems on solving equations was assigned for homework.
