I inquired about Ben's interest in the Japanese language and culture, and pulled out some of Ben's Japanese symbols and art work to discuss. We plan to pack them up later so he can take them home at the end of the day.

This is a Substitute Assignment for Ms. Misuzu. Period 2.
Lucas watched videos on introducing yourself in Japanese and talking about where you're from. He practiced speaking the phrases and responding to the dialogue.
Lucas demonstrated various Japanese symbols. He explained the symbols of various Japanese languages, including Hiragana, Katakana, and Genki. Lucas explained there is no 'L' in the Japanese language, so the 'l' is made into an 'r' sound, which is why Japanese people can not pronounce the 'l.' Lucas wrote various symbols including his name on the whiteboard, and showed me how different mnemonic devices are used on his flashcards to help people remember the symbols. It was a fun class!
