Warm-Up Activity, Review Grade 5 Readiness Test, Multiplication Practice
Lesson Outline
Jase and I began our session with a warm-up activity focusing on math skills. Jase and I then reviewed two pages of the grade 5 readiness test. Jase struggled with place value, multiplication, comparisons, and fractions. We will continue reviewing the test during our next session. Lastly, Jase practiced multiplication facts using an egg carton and pom poms.
Today, we completed two activities on common and proper nouns. Jase selected the correct common and proper nouns to complete sentences. We then read about the 5 steps of the writing process and discussed each step.
Jase and I began our session with a twelve-question warm-up activity. Jase then completed a grade 5 readiness test. Lastly, Jase created a cover for his math journal. We will review the answers of the grade 5 readiness test during our next session.

Jase completed an ‘All About Me’ activity – writing and discussing Jase’s family & pets, favorite color, favorite vacation, favorite books to read, favorite movies, favorite food, etc. During our next session, we will begin working on math. What a pleasure Jase is to work with!
I met Jase today. We worked on soft and hard G and C sounds, and understanding that soft G and C pronounced when followed by i, e or y. He completed two exercises on this skill. We learned about common and proper nouns, clarifying that common nouns are general and proper nouns are specific with a name. He completed half of an exercise choosing the best noun for a sentence.
