Art Elements: Texture, Negative and Positive Space, Depth: Linear and Atmospheric Perspective
Lesson Outline
We are continuing our learning of the Art Elements. We are focusing on texture, negative and positive space, and space and depth through perspective: linear and atmospheric perspective. I gave PJ some reference notes with images to refer to and put those in his art notebook. Then I gave him some activities to apply and practice these art elements.

PJ's handling of textures: wood, fur, and rough textures is quite good. He is very observant and really takes his time to demonstrate the texture he sees.
Assignment
PJ will finish his textures activity for Friday's class.

Choices 1, 2, or 3:
1. Animals of My Past, Present, and Future Drawing to promote self-awareness and self-reflection:
The assignment is to select three animals: 1) one animal to represent your past: where you have been, 2) a second animal to represent your present: who you are now, and 3) a third one to represent your future: your goals and dreams.

Don’t worry about making the animals perfect. Draw them from your imagination. You can represent them in a cartoon or illustrative way using pencil, ink pen, colored pencils, and markers. Think about an environment that unifies each animal and create that too as part of your drawing. It can be an imaginary world of your choosing.

2. Silly Drawing Prompts to Open the Imagination: Draw a chicken skydiving

3. Continue working on your current project independently.

PJ drew a chicken skydiving, and it is quite good! His drawing has a nice illustrative quality to it! I cannot wait to see the finished drawing! Good work, PJ!

Lesson 1 Analyzing the Rock and Fossil Records – We learned that fossils contained in rock layers can help geologists determine the ages of rocks and events of Earth’s history. We discovered that fossils found in the oldest layers of rock are of relatively simple organisms and fossils of more complex organisms appear in younger layers of rock.

Chapter 1 Algebraic Expressions and Integers
Lesson Outline
1-7 Inductive Reasoning – We practiced reasoning inductively. We predicted the extension of patterns. Then we applied inductive reasoning to real-world problem-solving. We learned that conjectures are not always true. They can be disproved with one counterexample. You want 8383 and five repeatedly negative
1-8 Look for a Pattern – We practiced finding number patterns. Then we discovered that many occupations use patterns to help solve problems or make predictions. We used tree diagrams to verify a solution is reasonable.
1-9 Multiplying and Dividing Integers – We practiced multiplying and dividing integers. We discovered that an even number of negative signs gives a positive answer and an odd number gives a negative answer. Then we discovered that the sign of the quotient is positive when the two signs are the same and negative if the two signs are the opposite.
1-10 The Coordinate Plane – We learned to name the coordinates and quadrants in the coordinate plane. Then we practiced graphing coordinates or ordered pairs.
Assignment: Complete hidden picture by connecting the coordinates.
