We continued working on the chord progressions to A Country Boy Can Survive, and Jersey Giant. We worked on switching chords accurately in rhythm, and picking accuracy.
I left a video in Teams that covers an alternate voicing and fingering of the G major chord, and introduces the Am, and C major chords. I discussed the chord progression to the Tyler Childers song Jersey Giant. I also left chord diagrams for each of these chords in the files section of the Teams chat.
We continued working on the intro to A Country Boy Can Survive, and then we began learning the Verse chord progression. We also worked on the chord progression to Jersey Giant by Tyler Childers. This introduced the Am and C major chords, as well as an alternate fingering for the G major chord.
Carson is doing asynchronous classes, so I recorded a video covering the chord progressions to Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain, including the bass line walks. I also covered the progression to Sweet Home Alabama. I also covered some music theory regarding numbering chords according to the chord's root note location in the major scale.
We continued working on the intro to A Country Boy Can Survive, focusing on proper strumming rhythm, changing chords in rhythm, and the bass line walk down that starts the verse chord progression. We also discussed guitar tuning techniques - using an electronic tuner, and tuning the guitar to itself. We also talked about drop D tuning, which is the tuning used in A Country Boy Can Survive.
Carson is doing asynchronus learning for this class on Mondays. I recorded a review of the 6 chords we learned last year on Microsoft Teams. He should practice strumming and switching between the E, B7, and A chords, and the D, Cadd9, and G chords.
We continued working on playing and switching the D, Cadd9, and G chords. We introduced the Am7 chord, and worked on the song A Country Boy Can Survive by Hank Williams Jr.
