Nicki shared with me that he is studying early American history this year. We had a very interesting discussion about Nicki's family history, the origins of his ancestors and where they settled when they arrived in the US. Nicki has good foundational knowledge about his family roots. It was a pleasure to work with Nicki today.

I subbed for a class that said "TBD" with no teacher name, so to avoid confusion, I just entered my own information re: class title and instructor name.
Nicky spent the session completing his Chapter 3 and 4 assessment. This includes a multiple choice section, U.S. Geography section, and short essay section. Nicky was 10 minutes late.
Nicky and I read through Lesson 1 of Chapter 4 before moving onto some collaborative review we completed on the class whiteboard. Nicky is working hard to prepare for the assessment.
Lesson 3: Particles in Motion – We learned that thermal expansion is the increase in volume that a material undergoes when its temperature increases. At higher temperatures the particles in matter move faster requiring more volume because they collide more often pushing each other apart. Then we learned that thermal contraction is the decrease in a material’s volume when its temperature decreases. Next we learned that kinetic energy is transferred from one material to another one when their particles collide.
Lesson 3: Particles in Motion – We played a game called convection, conduction, and radiation. This enabled us to distinguish between the different types of heat transfer.
