This book is written in Spanish and English. We would read the Spanish and then discuss what Libby thought might be the message based on the pictures and then read the English.
We reviewed Como esta and estoy bien and estoy feliz.
Libby then asked three of her stuffies how they are doing in Spanish. The stuffies would answer in Spanish. They would say how they are doing. And, they would say why they were that way. The owl was said because an alligator hurt her wing.
The flamingo was good because the alligator gave her candy.
Libby would draw a picture of the animal and how it was doing.

Review what the president does show a picture of the White House and talk about what the president does there: lives and works there. Show other famous buildings there and discuss what they are. Role play what Libby would do if she were President.
Libby and I practiced asking and answering the question Como esta?
We would repeat the question a couple times. I asked her and let her practice responding. She asked me and I responded. We then made a chart that he got to fill in as we went around asking different people from the school how they were doing.
In addition to this, we read the first half of the Mi Amigo Esta Triste book again. As we read, we spoke about key vocabulary such as friend, happy, sad, cowboy, clown.

Lesson Outline
Libby completed her interactive calendar. She read and discussed her vocabulary words. She put together her daily sentence puzzle. She watched and discussed a video about the life cycle of a baby otter. She worked on a reading comprehension activity pertaining to the story she read about the "Mitten," by Jan Brett.
Libby asked to work on the rainbow activity one of her peers showed her at lunch, so we began to work the activity sheet together. Libby identified the colors of the rainbow and was able to remember the 7 colors. She then asked to draw a picture of me, and used me as a model adding props. Libby has a very good imagination and is very resourceful and creative. She used sophisticated vocabulary when asked to describe a person, using the word 'needled' correctly to describe an annoying person who teases. Libby followed directions well and was responsive to modeling techniques during task acquisition.

We discussed the traits a cactus plant needs to survive in the desert. We switched the wires attached to the motor of her bubble machine and realized that we had them connected wrong. Now, the bubble machine blows the air in the correct direction.
