Louisiana celebrates Marde Gras meaning "Fat Tuesday". The United States celebrates the Fourth of July, the birth of our country with fireworks. We finished the lesson with a Bible story of the"The Prodigal Son". Ethan did a great job asking questions and input. Have good summer. Ethan, it's been a pleasure.
Finalize-The Trail of Tears: Marina completed the lesson with a crossword puzzle, quiz, and a mapping quiz. We reviewed the trail that the American Indians took for their removal, east of the Mississippi River, according to the Indian Removal Act of 1830. The march was grueling, as many suffered great losses on the Trail of Tears. Marina did a good job answering questions. Great job Marina, have a good summer.
We read copies of actual journal entries written by children during the westward migration. They (the journal entries) gave us insights into the rigors of the travel, the food, the weather and the social life, such as it was.
