The Economy
Lesson Outline
Ethan and I carried out a lesson about some basic principles of economics. We read several paragraphs and discussed the idea of a market used to buy and sell goods. We talked about how supply and demand impact the price of good service, and how people and banks use credit to take in or issue money. We talked briefly about where our consumer goods come from and why trade with other countries is important. Finally, I had Ethan help solve a crossword puzzle which used vocabulary from the reading.

Trail of Tears
Lesson Outline
Trail of Tears: As the United States grew in land many settlers also came. Indians have lived on the land for centuries and fought with the settlers killing many from both sides. President Jackson with Congress passed The Indian Removal Act of 1830. Moving all Indians west of the Mississippi. The Cherokees took the battle to court and won. The Cherokees and all other tribes were moved anyway. This broke the spirit of the Indians as they were forced from their homeland. The journey was long and conditions were bad causing many Indians to die. The Trail of Tears ended in 1839. The United States succeeded in taking the land for its own.
