Today we planned out a project that Jack will be participating in next week. Then we studied texture in design. We practiced adding texture to his drawings.
Jack took his social studies test this afternoon after briefly reviewing the study guide I gave him. He had to answer 35 True/False and multiple-choice questions about local, state, and tribal governments. Jack demonstrated good recall of the material and is a confident test-taker.
Jack will complete the Topic 12 Reteaching section in his workbook, including: Set C: Remember that the denominator shows the
total number of equal parts in a whole. Set D: Remember to first decide what unit fraction is
shown on each number line. Set E: Remember that the
numerator increases by 1
because each part of the
number line is 1 more copy of
the unit fraction. Set F. Remember to mark a dot for each length.
Check your completed line plot against the
data in the chart. Set G: Remember to think about the scale of the
line plot. It needs to include the least and
greatest values.

Lesson Comments
Jack had a bottle of (liquid) Children's Benadryl in his plastic bin/ drawer. (For some reason I looked in there? I don't know why!?!) I immediately, calmly took it, and walked out of the classroom with it. I tried to bring it up front, telling him that it needs to be somewhere safe, w/ Dr. Jordy. He was screaming "That's Mine!" He was upset, and began pushing me (and barricading room so I couldn't get out etc.) When in the hall with the benadryl, Ms. Jacqueline assisted. Ms. Megan came and talked to him. He had hidden the benadryl. The rest of the session he was off task. *Jack said he took some of the Benadryl before school.
Jack read a chapter in a novel by Louis Sachar and we discussed the methods the author used to enrich the text and build suspense. Jack was able to identify and explain examples of figurative language.
Jack was very defiant the first session and refused to at first wake up. Then, we sat outside for a few minutes and he then ran away into the yard and refused to come in. He finally did and we did his testing. He was easily distracted, but he finished.
Today we reviewed all the animals we can find on a farm, at the zoo, and at home. He did a good job telling the names in Spanish of almost all the animals.
Jack and I colored our first staircase using three colors (one for the front, side, and top). I worked with Jack to create the cube that would be used for the second staircase.
