Luke participated in a guided reading exercise about a school map using a ReadWorks short story to facilitate his comprehension and attention to details, while integrating the map skills we've focused on in previous social studies lessons. Luke required quite a few re-directive efforts to help him self-regulate his behaviors at the onset of class, but when consistently reinforced for displaying less impulsive and more controlled, reflective behaviors, he was better able to concentrate on academic skills. A short video related to our lesson helped contribute to his improved ability to focus and follow directives effectively.

Luke was very excitable this morning. He required several prompts and re-directive efforts to help him self-regulate.
Luke did not want to engage in conversation at the start of the session. Attempted to work on L and TH as well as social/conversational skills. He said he did not want to participate today. Luke completed his interactive calendar. He read his vocabulary words. He took his Reading Comprehension bee test #2. He read, discussed, and used a Venn diagram to explain a scholastic News article about how a poppy grows, how a bean plant grows, and the life of a leaf.
Luke completed his daily math activity. We worked on telling time activities. He learned about fraction through a game called "Block It." He learned about a rhombus and a trapezoid.

Luke enjoyed the read aloud but would not allow the skeleton to be brought into his room. At the end of class, he asked to use the restroom. I checked on him and let Miss Katie (his next teacher) know he had been in the restroom for approximately 10 minutes.

Luke came in with a coloring paper. He refused to try any work or lesson while threatening to strangle me. He threw away any work that I showed him. He continued to color his paper from home while talking about going to a new school.

Luke completed his interactive calendar. He worked on several activities pertaining to the life cycle of the bee. He read a reading comprehension story about the bee, and took a test over the content.
Talked about plant parts and the life cycle of the different plants. Talked about flowers and fruits.

We were able to do a very short plant lesson. Luke wanted to focus on his rock collection and the rocks in the rock sort game. I worked what I could on plants before switching.
Today we completed CELF 5 testing, all 9 subtests. Will score test, write evaluation, and schedule time to discuss results with parent. Luke did an excellent job sitting during the evaluation today and completing the final 2 subtests.
