Each little artist used brown paint to paint her/his traced hand on canvas to be the trunk of the family tree. Then, each little artist got a 12” x 12” canvas to paint a background in any design he or she wanted: rainbows, clouds, sky, sun, etc. I will glue each student's family tree together: tree top and tree trunk on the canvas. The goal is for each student to bring in photos of her/his family members to add to her/his trees.
We started working on our family tree project. I traced each child’s hand and wrist individually on canvas paper. Each hand print will be the tree and branches. When each child had their hand and wrist traced, they went to the art table to paint the tops of their trees green with green paint. I will cut out the tree tops and the hand prints to be assembled next class.
Today, we will combine our Halloween characters' movements with our workout.
The workout includes running on the playground, as well as mat work that includes jumping jacks, squat jumps, Dance moves, monster sit-ups, and splits.

I was at the drawing board showing our little artists how to draw spiders, pumpkins, and Jack-o'-lanterns. I used easy to follow step-by-step shapes to create our drawings. The little artists had paper and crayons and were able to follow along and create their own drawings. Super work!
