Properties of Logs
Lesson Outline
Today JPaul and I had a lesson on the properties of logarithms. JPaul took notes as I explained the properties on the board. This was a review for JPaul from Algebra 2, so he was able to recall a bit. JPaul took the lead with the classwork problems and I only interjected when he was on the verge of an error.

Topic 6 Review
Lesson Outline
We started class by reviewing the assignment he had on Friday with the substitute. Carson did well overall, I just made a few comments on his vocabulary (use the word reflect instead of flip). I asked Carson if he wanted to review one more day or if he was ready to take his test. He said "Let's get it over with!" He took the test and worked most of the period. I will grade the test tomorrow and we will review it then.

Log Review
Lesson Outline
We began today's class by going through the assignment he had on Friday. He had some difficulties with it, so we went through it together. Next, I wrote a Quiz Prep practice on the board. Matthew got practice going from exponential form to logarithmic form (and vice versa). He got practice evaluating logarithms by hand and with the calculator. He also practiced using the properties to expand and condense logs. We will review one more day and he will have a quiz on Wednesday

Occupational Therapy Treatment Session
Lesson Outline
Richard was seen in his room for a 45-minute treatment session. His session focuses on improving his postural control, integration of retained reflexes, visual motor skills and integration, fine motor skills, dexterity, manipulation, ocular motor development and graphomotor development/keyboarding as an alternative means to written communication. Began treatment with typing.com to work on the letters "o, b, f and l" Richard had trouble when typing L and often would hit the i key instead of the l key because the i key looks like a lowercase l. I explained it is confusing and that he has to just learn where and what these keys are. Continued with cursive letter review of the letter "q" - Richard thought it was a "g". Reviewed cursive letters "e and l" and continued to learn the letter "h" today in script. He was able to connect letters to write words in cursive with previous learned letters like "hill". Good session.

Richard has his vision re-evaluation today with Dr. Murray. He got to school later in the day and his eyes were fatigued from all the testing he had undergone earlier in the day. Reviewed cursive letters that were previously learned. Worked on visual discrimination using an I Spy book. Lastly, Richard told OT that he received an oculus for working hard in vision therapy. OT spoke to Richard and to Richard's mom about the research out there in regards to the oculus and how it is not necessarily good for the visual pathways he is working on improving. OT suggested they speak with Dr. Murray OD to discuss benefit and possible negative side effects of using this VR system for someone Richard's age.

Began session with typing.com, Richard was able to use isolated finger movements to type. At this time Richard is a slow yet steady typer typing 6wpm with 97% accuracy for his lesson he just finished practicing the letters "t,s and l" today. He continued with practicing the letters "o,b and i" and was able to type 8 wpm with 96% accuracy using all the correct fingers. Continued with our ocular motor exercises with sentence tracking work. Richard was able to find 9 words in a jumbled paragraph in 49 seconds and for his second trial he was able to find 9 words in 37 seconds. His tracking time keeps getting faster and improving with increased accuracy. Lastly, review the letters "a, d and g" in cursive.

His session focuses on improving his postural control, integration of retained reflexes, visual motor skills and integration, fine motor skills, dexterity, manipulation, ocular motor development and graphomotor development/keyboarding as an alternative means to written communication. Began treatment session with ocular motor pusuits activity involving sentence tracking. Richard was able to find 11 words inside a scrambled paragraph within 1 minute 3 seconds with one cue and for his second triall he was able to find 10 words in 34 seconds without help. His time keeps getting faster for visual pursuits (tracking). Today we continued working on cursive review. He was able to identify the letter "i,u,w,r,j,t" in script but could not identify the letters "s and y". He was able to identify the letters "c, o, a, d, and g" but not "q" (thought it was a y). Lasly, he could identify the "e,l" in script. We will continue to work on writing and identification of the lowercase alphabet in cursive. Good session.
