Booby read a chapter in"Holes." After reading I asked him to describe the characters. Were they kind, egotistical, etc. Bobby then had to cite evidence from the story. We continued the lesson with the story "Stray" by Cynthia Rylant. Bobby competed a spelling quiz and two passages on Readtheory.org.
Bobby and I discussed his need to assemble a one inch three ring binder for each of his subject classes. Each notebook should be divided into five sections- handouts, homework, graded papers, class notes and clean, blank notebook paper. Bobby MUST construct a Backpack Inventory Checklist that he should post on the refrigerator at home, on the wall in his room and should be followed each morning before getting into the car. The checklist should include- homework, subject area text books and daily planner which must be updated daily.
This morning we focused our attention on the photochemical process known as photosynthesis. We introduced the idea of reactants, products, by products, compounds, molecules and the organelles of a plant cell where photosynthesis takes place. Homework: Review the terms at the end of this section and complete the review questions.
This afternoon we focused our attention once again on solving inequalities using the operations of addition and subtraction. Does life get any better than this? Bobby is using many of the same steps that we have used in solving equations and is doing a good job of completing the practice exercises. He was not prepared for class however having left his homework at home (?). He is very candid about his organizational skills or lack thereof and realized that we would have lots to talk about doing our afternoon study skills class. He MUST use his subject binder for math AND create a Backpack inventory Checklist that must be followed each morning before getting into the car. See Study Skills notes for more info.

Lesson Outline
Bobby completed a daily edit. He identified simple subjects and predicates in sentences. He read two passages and completed the comprehension questions on Readtheory.org., and then he completed reading chapter 3 in "Holes." Bobby wrote a paragraph with a topic sentence, supporting details, and concluding statement. Bobby should review spelling words for a quiz on Thursday.
This afternoon we began using our text and laying the groundwork for this class at long last. Homework is read up through pages 6-11 and complete the problems 1-5 on page 11.
This afternoon we viewed a video segment from the Kingdom of Plants that highlighted some of the evolutionary adaptations that plants have undergone over the last few million years Some of those adaptations include camouflage. predation, self-defense and pollination. We also discussed how the extinction or removal of an organism from an ecosystem can have a profound impact of influence on the survival of the ecosystem. We used a very rare African water lily as an example.
After warm up and stretch, Bobby did lunges with squats, RDLs, calf raises, sled push, leg curls, leg extensions, wall sits, glute bridges, squate jumps, and a cool down and stretch.
