Review clothes and verbs
Lesson Outline
Cabo did a fantastic job of transitioning to the task at hand today.

We opened with a Guess Who Review. Cabo was able to use much of the vocabulary but needed minor reminders for some of the vocabulary used for the game.

We introduced a new learning game: I spy. In the course of the game we discovered new vocabulary: Ardilla, oja, pajaro. We also learned the repetitive phrase that is used to play the game and review words such as arbol.

We did a brief preview of reflexive verbs but did not dive into the exact usage.

Cabo wrote 3 sentences in Spanish.

Cabo did such a great job transitioning to our class even on a day when he told me he was not feeling good.

I was happy to see him rebound successfully from the day before.

Clothing - Llevar
Lesson Outline
We reviewed the notecards that Cabo had created in an early session.

We corrected one of the cards that may have had an error due to the word being a false cognate. So we diverted to discuss the dangers of not verifying possible cognates.

We reviewed the clothing vocabulary and used the verb llevar. We discussed how other languages can highlight other perspectives as we discussed how Spanish uses 1 verb to express both the wearing and carrying of an item.

Cabo seems to appreciate nuances like these.

We toured the school discussing what items people were wearing or not wearing in Spanish

We also wrote sentences on the board. Cabo finished the class by writing sentences on his own in Spanish.

We continued to map out the content areas of his learning and areas where he could use a review. He took an online quiz. We discussed the days of the week. We highlighted how to say someone does something on certain days of the week.

Spanish Composition
Lesson Outline

We had Bobby join Judie's birthday party first, so that he could be a part of the school-wide activity. He was very gracious in wishing Judie a happy birthday.

We then quickly dove into writing a 5-paragraph essay in Spanish. Bobby was able to answer a series of questions about himself in Spanish.

We used the answers to those questions to form the 3 body paragraphs of his essay. We wrote topic sentences for each paragraph. We wrote Introductory and Conclusionary paragraphs.

Writing about a House
Lesson Outline
Cabo wrote a paragraph about a house. While many students write about their own house, we modified the assignment to discuss his "ideal" house. He adeptly described a house.

Cabo then read a description of a different house and was able to draw a picture from the description. His picture included the key details described.

We played a round of Guess Who. Cabo used the vocabulary to play a well thought out game. His personal strategy for the game includes using questions with the term "or" being prominently featured. We adjusted our game vocabulary to facilitate this strategy.
