I am over the moon with Ayden. This conversation that we started last week is now complete. He struggled at the beginning last week but now he is recalling the words by himself over and over! Even the words that were giving him trouble are sinking in. I had no choice but to move on! So I introduced a new set of words today and we will stay focused on this until he knows them too. I am very encouraged and I believe Ayden is too. Woo-hoo!

Lesson Comments
We have been reviewing a family conversation at the dinner table. Ayden is slowly learning new vocabulary words. I am focusing on vocabulary with him in general because I believe everything else at the moment is secondary. If he can find the right words he can speak. We spent maybe 10 minutes on reading Hebrew. I am keeping it in front of him but focusing considerable more time on conversation. We had some technical difficulties toward the end. I don't know what that was about because we got cut off but I will ask him today what happened. It definitely appeared to be on his end. :)

Lesson Comments
Ayden's concentration was better. He has picked up a few new words like "here is" - and "there are" and "apple" and "honey". This is fantastic. He was getting stuck on the word for candles over and over so I asked him to memorize this one word for hw. The session was rough only because I thought we were on campus and not online and I was not prepared with online material so I was frustrated. I had prepared special material for an on campus visit :( Hopefully this week these kinks will be resolved! :) Finally, I picked a few words that Ayden knows backwards and forwards - like "Mom" and "Dad" . However, reading them is a challenge for him. I remain focused on reading 4 or 5 simple words IN HEBREW, words that he knows verbally. This way I can re-introduce reading Hebrew characters and hopefully he can gain "sight" recognition of these simple words. Especially since he already has a general knowledge of the Hebrew letters already- I do not want him to lose this.

Lesson Comments
Two separate sessions, one at 10am and the other at 1:30. We introduced very simple reading (instead of pure transliteration) which Ayden did well at. He knows the letters but needs guidance with the vowels. Ayden needs to remain focused.

Judy - Ayden struggled today and yesterday. I would say "Here is" in Hebrew is "He-nay". How do you say "Here is" Ayden?" and he could not repeat. He would say, "I forgot". I was extremely patient, and I don't mind repeating the same word 1000 times, but he seemed unusually unable to focus today. In our second session I said jokingly "put on your thinking cap Ayden" and he said, "My brain is fried" so I tried to dial back the lesson a bit because he was struggling more than usual. I understand that he had a week off for spring break and then another week off for vacation so possiblly this is an explanation. He definitely did make some gains yesterday and today but overall he was unable to focus and I wonder if you have any words for me since you know him well. Thanks. Andrea

Through process of elimination, Ayden scored an A+ on his quiz with the ability to match the transliteration to its English definition. He even identified gender specific words accurately. Ayden already knows how to count and pronounced the numbers 1-19 extremely well and with relative ease. I will introduce more numbers. We reviewed vocabulary and sentences from prior lessons as well.
