Good sportmanship/ taking turns during play
Lesson Outline
Matthew was engaged in an activity playing 2 games with another student - one involved collaborative play and the other was competitive. Matthew did well on the collaborative game and worked well with the other student. The next game involved more of a competitive approach. He was encouraged to be mindful that if he plays in only a single, narrow style, he'll have a harder time finding opponents, and he responded well when afforded verbal praise for making positive comments to his opponent and demonstrating improved sportsmanlike conduct and behavior.

I worked with Matthew today, Friday, 5/21/21 from 2:00 - 2:30 (30 minutes). Earlier in the day, as we were leaving lunch at 12:30PM, Matthew was asked to return a hockey stick that he had brought indoors and to return it outside. He refused to do so, holding onto it and resisting verbal requests and gentle, yet firm efforts to remove it from his grasp. 4 teachers were unsuccessful. (myself, Debbie S, Elise, Mr. Shihan). When his next teacher arrived to escort him outside to work on a project, Matthew finally brought it outdoors. Before he exited, he slapped my posterior rather hard as I turned to walk away. He was verbally cautioned that that was entirely inappropriate and he must keep his hands to himself. I mentioned it to the appropriate administrators.

Ordering Steps in a sequence
Lesson Outline
Today, Richard used the fruit platter he ordered from lunch to make a mixed fruit smoothie. He was tasked with sequencing the order of steps he'd need to follow, including the ingredient list, list of fruits in the smoothie, and the exact sequence, or order, of each step. Richard was able to do so with prompts to remind him to stay focused on task expectations. He took great pleasure combining the ingredients in the blender, allocating the correct measured amounts in cups, offering and distributing the treats to student and teachers who indicated they'd enjoy a sample. Richard was thrilled to have received such rave reviews over his Fun Friday mixed fruit smoothie. Several students requested doubles!
