Jack enjoyed using curved and straight pieces of wood to make the letters of the alphabet. He worked carefully to trace non straight, dotted lines. He did well choosing the pictures that rhymed and writing the initial sound of pictures. Letter dictation of lower case letters was completed. After listening to a riddle that described animals, Jack confidently identified the animal. Additionally, we worked on pattern completion. Jack particularly enjoyed a game in which he got to take two steps every time he said the sound of a given letter. We played the game until we arrived at the playground for the last few minutes. Jack was engaged and cooperative. I enjoyed working with him.

Richard was not feeling well today and left early. We hope he feels better soon. We continue to work on both phoneme manipulation and on words with the long a sound that end with an e. Richard read a passage, wrote answers to questions about the text and wrote the names of pictures related to the text. He did very well determining if given objects would fit in a given basket. Richard confidently completed a spiral practice of math concepts learned.

We continue to practice rhyme production, identification of initial, medial and final sounds and phoneme manipulation. Richard practiced reading and spelling words with the long a/silent e pattern. He did well on sentence dictation, sounding out the words and using proper capitalization and end punctuation. Richard enjoyed 'buying' objects using plastic pennies and nickels. He used the balance scale to determine how many cubes were needed to balance the weight of objects in the room. Additionally, Richard confidently completed a spiral practice of math concepts learned.

Richard did well reading a story that focused on the -ad and -an families. He was able to independently match sentences to pictures and answer questions related to the text. Sight words were reviewed. Richard was introduced to the long a with the spelling rule of a-consonant-e. Counting by tens, the days of the week and the months of the year were reviewed and practiced. Richard enjoyed using the balance scale to determine how many cubes different items required to balance the weight.

Richard enjoyed listening to a story. Print and plot elements were identified and discussed. The long a sound was introduced. Richard was tasked with identifying the pictures with the long a sound. We continue to practice addition and subtraction. Richard did well counting pennies and writing the monetary amount. Given two objects, he confidently determined which was heavier and/or lighter. In addition, Richard did well completing a spiral practice activity.

He did well matching words with pictures and completing sentences about the text. Richard was excited to tell me about his Easter. He drew a picture and wrote about Easter. We continue to work on word spacing. Richard confidently counted pennies and wrote the monetary value. He enjoyed determining if given objects would fit in given containers. Reading numbers and number identification was practiced. Additionally, Richard completed a spiral practice.

Richard asked to hear 'The Ugly Duckling'. He did well identifying the beginning, middle and end of the story and discussing how the main character felt. We continue to work on final blends in one syllable words. Given the letters of sight words, Richard did well putting the letters in the correct sequence. Richard enjoyed using a balance scale to compare weights of different objects. He was very excited to participate in a science experiment that caused a chemical reaction involving food coloring, glitter, baking soda and vinegar.

Richard benefits from encouragement to blend the whole word when reading a story. He enjoyed reading, 'The Man, the Pan and the Egg'. Focus was on decoding and sequence. He drew a picture and, with help, wrote about spending time with his cousins. Final consonant blends were introduced and practiced. Richard practiced writing words using proper sizing. Give sets of two containers, Richard confidently identified the container that could hold more/less. He enjoyed a game involving matching number of pennies to a monetary value. He did well on a spiral review. Additioally, Richard enjoyed playing Connect 4 Addition.
