Twelve multiplication tables/make patterns tables: Maya did very well on her 12 tables flash cards, she was able to answer most of them without assist, later we played 12 tables computer games. Also, worked on pattern tables using the text in 3rd grade Envision. Good job Maya
Maya and I completed our common and proper noun project today! We labeled our people with common nouns and their corresponding proper noun (girl-Maya). Then I made a t-chart in her notebook with a common or proper noun and she had to determine the corresponding noun. We read Little Red Riding Hood alternating paragraphs and identifying nouns. We then played I'm Thinking... to discuss the story elements and review common and proper nouns. Lastly, Maya worked on her p page in her cursive book. She formed her lower case p's very well:)
Explore ways to classify animals. Distinguish between fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. Using the book "amphibians", "reptiles, and mammals discuss the illustration for each kind, and find out how are they alike and how are they different.
Today Maya scored a 100 on her 11X table quiz, and solved all 25 problems in record time. In math lesson 9-5, Maya learned how to translate words or situations to expressions. She learned a new mathematical term, numerical expression. Maya was able to determine which of the four operations to use in a situation given. She practiced using symbols to show the relationship between numbers. In L-B, Maya continued on an activity we started yesterday. She is working on remembering a small moment, of which she able to visualize. Today we created a list using some of her senses and structure words to help generate the details from her special moment. In FF, Maya continued her program and beat her high score in Leaping Lizards. I know she is excited about this weekend's run and swimming with the manatees. I hope that you all have a great time!
Discussion of aerobic excercise and the heart as a muscle (handout); class focused on aerobic yoga and exercise; creative yoga: obstacle course with yoga poses and heart-pumping movements (i.e. jump rope, hooping, etc.). We took turns creating our movement obstacle course with hoops, blocks and ropes. We ended class with a relaxation to music.
Maya was excited to start our day together. She wanted to work on our noun project. We finished creating the people and will begin labeling the types of nouns on Monday. Maya did not want to read today, but once she got started she read Mike's Good Bad Day successfully. Maya was fluent and expressive. I was proud of her because she read the entire book independently without asking to take turns or stop once. Fantastic stamina! However, I did notice she was not reading for meaning. She was using visual clues to solve unknown words without checking to see if they made sense. Nonetheless, she demonstrated comprehension of the text in discussion throughout and after the story.

I am working at Maya's pace in our sessions. I have not been able to cover as much as I would like in our sessions, but I feel it is important for Maya to enjoy our time together and feel rushed. She forgot her backpack today, so I did not have her cursive book to work with her in.
