Reading Response
Lesson Outline
We started our day reading a chapter of Invisible Stanley. Next, we moved into a reader's response. Moving forward Patrick will write a one sentence response to either my read aloud or his read aloud. I want to incorporate daily writing with Patrick without overwhelming him too much. This will also contribute to reading comprehension skills. Lastly, Patrick read Level D "What's for Lunch?". He liked this book much more than the other story. Patrick and I had a very productive session.

Lesson Outline
Today we bumped into Miss Barbara, one of our science teachers. She had a crate full of bones from the ocean. She demonstrated many of them to Patrick. It provided Patrick with knowledge especially about the vertebrate. She shared information about these bones and baleen- whale teeth- with Patrick. She showed him how the tissues and bones act together as shock absorbers. In LB Patrick revisited the story from yesterday and completed comprehension questions accurately. He recalled the vocabulary terms and was able to sequence events from the story, correctly.

Lesson Comments
Patrick was not himself today. He seemed very reluctant and down and continually talked about how he felt too tired to do anything. At the end of our session he told me that he can't sleep and that he has been staying up until 12:30 and waking up at 7:00 because of his brother playing loud video games . I encouraged him to talk with his brother and his mom about his sleeping issues. Hopefully, it will help.

Keyboarding/ FF/LB
Lesson Outline
Today Patrick completed his FF program. He played Cosmic Reader, where he has shown a lot of improvement. He also played Polar Planet. This game was a little more difficult today. The words that were displayed contained many d and bs, which is more challenging for Patrick because of letter reversals. In LB, Patrick worked on a new passage about a Snowboarder. I am always impressed with Patrick's large vocabulary. He often knows the terms, and if he doesn't already, he learns quickly. Patrick answered reading comprehension questions, sentences by sentence. During the rest of his time with me he had gathered with some peers for some social and physical activities. He participated in movie time, basketball and recess.
