Discuss "Looking at Women" and "Between the Sexes, a Great Divide" from the Norton Reader
Lesson Outline
1) Critical thinking: "Looking at Women." What are some pigeon-holes that Sanders places women within? Do you agree? What are some portrayals of women the he fails to include? Can there be a powerful element to the objectification of women? How should men look at women?
2)Responding to issues of gender: "Between the Sexes, a great Divide": How can Quin suggest that women are different than men without at the same time suggesting that women are inferior to them? What kinds of differences is she addressing?
Review and discuss chapter 37. Focus on end of Korean War, changes in gender roles vs popular culture, change in race relations and beginning of Civil Rights movement, popular culture entertainment and food, interstate highway system.

Completed the chapter on respiration. Jess will answer the questions for Wed. and I can use that as a partial evaluation.
We solved a definite integral problem five ways: (1) Eyeball estimation; (2)Directly, using an integration formula and the fundamental theorem of calculus, (3) the trapezoidal rule with 4 partitions; (4) the trapezoidal rule with 8 partitions, and (5) using the numerical integration under the "CALC" function of the graphing calculator.

Jess's attitude is fine. I had wanted to make this session a wrap-up, but I get the idea that we might need to spend another day with it.
We worked a definite integration problem using the Trapezoidal Rule to estimate the definite integral. We then compared the result with direct integration using the Fundamental Theorem. Both answers were very close.
