Simpson's Rule
Lesson Outline
We introduced Simpson's Rule by comparing it with the trapezoidal rule as a way to estimate a definite integral. We used an earlier problem to demonstrate this "new" method and compared the results. Simpson was slightly more accurate.

We worked through two problems, both of which involved the trapezoidal rule. In the first, we finished a problem that we started yesterday, using the trapezoidal rule formula directly. In the second one, we looked at the graph of an unknown function and picked values of f(x) of the graph to apply the rule.
