Aubrey worked on her English assignment on compare and contrast. She read the lesson, before answering the related questions. She completed and submitted a quiz on the subject. When she was done, we looked over her assignments due pages for each of her three classes. She is in good shape with only one or two assignments due. She has not yet started the book she has been assigned to read. We discussed it. She should have a goal for each day, and decided this added unnecessary stress to her progress. I encouraged her to continue as she has this week, and to start reading the book. Homework: start reading her book.

Aubrey and I wrote her lab report on natural selection. Using the scientific method and following her instructions, Aubrey wrote her report of the data she collected yesterday. She used Microsoft Excel to make the table of her data and the chart to illustrate her observations. She answered the questions and formatted her document using Microsoft Word. She submitted her assignment. We then looked up her assignments due, and I was pleased to discover she had worked on all three classes since yesterday. I congratulated her and applauded her work. She said she had nearly completed her world history assignment, using a different computer, so I encouraged her to finish it at home tonight. I also suggested she work on her English assignments, and continue to read her book today. Homework: finish world history assignment and read the book.

Aubrey and I worked on her lab on natural selection. We followed the directions and conducted a predatory prey exercise designed to show how predation can effect the success of a species. She scattered 100 pieces of colored paper (20 of each color) on in a designated area. We both collected pieces (a total of 75) and counted how many of each color remained. She added three for each one left on the board. We repeated the process three times. Aubrey has the data and will finish (and submit) the assignment tomorrow. Homework: start reading the book assigned for her English class.

Lesson Comments
I need to see (or copy) a list of up-coming assignments, from all three courses Aubrey is taking, so I can make sure we plan and use our time together efficiently. It would be better for me to do this outside of our class time together. She must also address at least one of her assignments every day, including weekends, at least until she has completed her past due assignments. She is assigned three assignments per week per class. She has submitted only one so far. She will be dropped if she does not do work during these first few weeks. After that, she will get an F on her record if she does not keep up with the schedule . She may be able to get extensions on some work, but the list will become overwhelming very quickly if she continues at this rate.

Aubrey worked at her modern day scientist presentation, which she started on Monday. She finished researching the scientists and typed up the information she found. She then created a PowerPoint slide show and submitted it to complete the assignment. We then addressed her second assignment. She finished the reading assignment and then we explored her lab assignment. She needs to complete a two-person task which illustrates the manner by which predator/ prey relationships work on the balance of diversity. We prepared the supplies she will need to conduct the lab, but ran out of time to complete the assignment. Homework: With her mom, complete the lab assignment.
