Cabo did not want to enter his homework correctly in 'My Homework'.He had homework in math, science, language arts and science. His science book is at home, so he spent 20 minutes on the other three subjects. He read pages 70-75 for language arts, but did not answer the questions. He completed his math problems, However, the directions were to show his work and Cabo said his work was all in his head. Cabo completed the reading for history. We straightened his desk to get ready for tomorrow.

Lesson Comments
After the first half hour, Cabo would not continue with her homework. He played with string, he walked around his room, he made his chair rock. After trying encouragement, redirection and limit setting, I got Cal to come speak with him. As Cabo was leaving, I asked him if he had the questions for language arts. He said he didn't. I asked how he would answer the questions. He said he guessed he wouldn't.

Cabo continues to benefit from encouragement to use 'My Homework' to write his homework assignments rather than just the name of the class he has homework in. Cabo had homework in language arts, math, history and science. His science book was at home so he could not work on that at school. After 20 minutes of reading history, Cabo was encouraged to go on to the next subject. He really enjoys reading history and often reads aloud sections he finds particularly interesting. Cabo completed his math homework and read 8 of the 12 pages assigned in language arts before it was time to go. Together, we went through the loose papers on his desk and put them in the subject folders. His desk was cleared so that he could start tomorrow with an open work space.

Lesson Comments
Cabo was reluctant to discontinue reading history. He needed to be asked several times to put the tablet away. He also did not want to enter his assignments on 'My Homework'. He claimed that no one looks at it and he would remember. We talked about the benefit of not relying on his memory and that it was a good habit to get into writing it all down. He did, after encouragement, enter his homework.

Lesson Outline
Cabo did not bring his computer to school today so the teachers wrote his assignments on the board. We discussed the order in which Cabo would work on his assignments. He completed his math first. Next, Cabo read for history. After 20 minutes, he was asked to start on his language arts. With encouragement, we began to read his language arts together. Part of Cabo's language arts homework was to create a family tree of the Greek Gods. When we read the page that explained the relationships of the Gods, I suggested and encouraged Cabo to fill out the family tree. He said he would do it later. We marked the page so that he could find it easily later. At the end of the hour, Cabo was not done reading for language arts, nor had he filled in the family tree. With encouragement and redirection, Cabo did work on his homework for most of the hour.

Lesson Comments
Cabo was resistant to stop reading his history homework and begin his language arts. He went under the desk with his tablet and put the tablet on top of his language arts book. He agreed to listen to his language arts only after I offered to start the reading. When he was getting ready to leave, he did not know where the family tree assignment paper was and did not look for it before he left.

We are working on Cabo writing more specifically what his homework is in each class on his 'My Homework' program. Today, he had language arts and math homework. He chose to complete his math homework first and then read, 'Twelve Angry Men' for language arts. Although Cabo has a paperback copy of the book, he insists on reading it on the computer. Together, we organized his desk and put away his books to get ready for tomorrow.

Cabo benefited from encouragement to begin his homework. We started by looking at his homework assignments on the 'My Homework' program. Cabo was asked to be more specific in writing his assignments so there would be no confusion about what was expected. He had reading in history and language arts and math problems. We discussed the order that Cabo would do his assignments and why. He completed all three assignments. We ended the session by clearing his desk and putting his books and folders away.

Cabo did not want to come in and start his homework. He came inside and walked into the front office, before going into his room. He needed to be asked more than once to show me his 'My Homework ' page. Once he settled down, he did the homework for all three assignments with little redirection.

Cabo and I went over what homework he had. He had a test in language arts tomorrow and some biology reading with questions to answer. Cabo felt that it would be better to start with studying for the test. Cabo wanted to read parts of the book over in preparation for the test. I suggested he look on line for a site that would summarize the book and possibly analyze the plot, describe the characters and so on. We did find sites with the information about the book, but Cabo felt strongly that rereading parts of the book would better ready him for the test. When there was 20 minutes left in the session, I asked Cabo if he might want to do his biology homework so that he knew it was completed. Cabo said that he wanted to keep reading for language arts and would take the biology book home to complete the assignment. We cleaned up his desk so he can start fresh tomorrow.

Cabo stated that his only homework was to study for a science test on Tuesday and a language arts test on Wednesday. We went through each class and Cabo said he did not have any other homework. I talked to Cabo about different strategies to study for a test. Cabo decided to study today for science and tomorrow for language arts. We used the last few minutes of the session to put loose papers away and clean off his desk to so he could start tomorrow with a clean workspace.

It would be really beneficial if each of Cabo's teachers had him enter in the homework (or no homework) at the end of their class. Without that, I can only rely on what Cabo tells me and his memory. I asked Cabo what he needed to study for science. I asked if he got a study guide or had any papers to help him study. He said he was told to look on line for information about evolution. He needs to be set up to be successful with homework and test taking. I need input about assignments to help him prioritize and complete assignments.
