Lesson Outline
Cabo and I went over each class and made sure each class that he had an assignment in was entered in his 'My Homework' program. He had language arts reading, history research and a science test scheduled for Monday. We talked about when each was due and made a plan of the order he would work on his assignments. He began with research. After 20 minutes, he switched to reading. He declined help to study for his science test. We spent the last few minutes organizing and putting away loose papers and books on his desk so he could start with a clean work space tomorrow.

Lesson Comments
Cabo was resistant to 'enter no homework' in his 'My Homework' program. He only wanted to enter assignments he was given. He started with research. More than once he attempted to do other things on his computer. He was told that he would have to have the screen so I could see it if he did not keep the screen on research.

Lesson Outline
Cabo entered his homework onto 'My Homework' on his computer. He has a science test on Friday. I talked to Cabo about using the week, rather than just Thursday to study for the test. He chose to start his homework by reading 'A Call of the Wild'. Cabo finished one of two chapters he needed to read 40 minutes into the hour. I talked to Cabo about prioritizing and choosing what homework he wanted to complete in school and what he would do at home. We talked about the benefit of having a plan. Cabo decided that he wanted to continue reading and if he finished reading, he would work on his math. At 2:30, I asked Cabo if he had the questions on his computer that he needed to answer for history. He said he did. Cabo continued to read even after 2:30. He read until he was picked up.

When Cabo was done with his homework, we worked together to clean off his desk and put his books and supplies away so his workspace would be clean for tomorrow.

Lesson Comments
Cabo was resistant to using the homework agenda. He insisted that he put assignments on his computer. I needed to have him put his phone on the desk so that he would not use it under his book when he was supposed to be reading. He benefit from encouragement to do his math when he completed his language arts.

Lesson Comments
I tried to have Cabo complete 3.4, which had been due Tuesday and I had subsequently been asking him to complete all week. Even in study hall, he barely got two questions done. He resisted even getting out his textbook or reading it to search for the answers. Because he had to type the answers on his computer, I had to watch him or else he would go to a different screen and distract himself.

Math
*Multiplication – doubles facts and how they relate to multiplication.
L.A.
* We reviewed the words he misspelled last week from the 300 most commonly misspelled words.
* Maverick worked on the short vowel sounds in nonsense and real words (great way to see if he really knows the sounds).
*Syllables- “closed” syllable pattern –CVC/ C… I gave him many nonsense and real words to divide and read. He needed to plug in a short vowel sound in the first syllable each time, giving practice while working towards mastery of this reading pattern.
* Test-taking strategies were introduced and practiced. He was given a practice assessment from the “FSA Practice Test Book” in which he had to apply the strategies on the list.

Lesson Outline
Cabo would benefit from writing his assignments down as he gets them rather than having to remember at the end of the day. Together, we went through each class and wrote the assignment or no homework down. Cabo read the passage he was assigned for language arts. He was then asked to summarize the passage and discuss the ethics of the passage. We went through Cabo's book cabinet and took out all of the loose papers. We then organized them by subject. Each subject now has a folder for loose papers.
