Chris was eager to meet this morning, as he wanted to share some "really great news." His motivation to engage in more detailed and expanded conversation of self initiated topics, as well as a wider array of topics continues to afford wonderful opportunities to support overall communicative competence. Expanded reciprocity was supported with familiar scaffolding strategies in order to facilitate increased cycles of exchange and decreased speaker -speaker overlap this morning. Chris continues to demonstrate strong self awareness, as acknowledgement of overlap and/or breakdown is noted, and subsequent use of repair techniques are utilized on a more consistent basis. Strong session today.
Luke had a good session today. He did a first grade reading activity where he helped me read 3 passages and answer questions. Luke was 13/15 on these questions with no help. He did an excellent job recalling specific details. Luke also did a nice job with L sound production today, with minimal cueing required.
Richard had a great session this morning. He worked on listening to some short detailed stories and answered questions about the specific details of the story with 90% accuracy.
Richard worked on his TH sound in conversation with 75% accuracy.
Richard had a great session today. Richard worked hard. He provided definitions for grade level vocabulary with ease. Some more complex multiple meaning words were challenging for him today but he was patient and did a great job. Richard did an excellent job in conversation with his TH sounds today. While talking to another teacher, Richard was 100% accurate.
The session commenced with Chris very much wanting to share and discuss his ongoing thoughts regarding collaboration with other "Plush Tubers." This afforded an excellent opportunity to revisit the many aspects of social communication. Highlighting the differences between "face to face" communication and communication that is solely done through texting, and social media modalities was reviewed. Aspects of perspective taking and social inferencing were the focus of today's session. Chris continues to show strong growth in the areas of self awareness. His ability to identify challenges within a social communication exchange, and subsequently revise and repair these communication breakdowns continues to improve.
Luke had a good session today. Initially he sat and did a comprehension story that he helped read and answered questions independently. He did a great job on this. He then took a break to work on a puzzle and it took some time to get him back to the table but he did it and did an excellent job with his next passage. During the session, his L sound production was great and consistent.
Richard had a great session today. He worked on a compare/contrast story read aloud and answered questions with 75% accuracy. He then worked on a main idea story that was read aloud to him with 80% accuracy. Richard also was observed to use TH correctly in conversational speech today with no cues many times.
Chris enthusiastically initiated conversation this morning. He was eager to share some of the new ideas that he had for a new video series, as well as his thoughts on collaboration with other "You Tubers." Familiar scaffolding supports were provided as Chris began to narrate a new story line as the basis for a new "series" that he was creating. Story grammar elements were subsequently included within his narrative with minimal cueing.
Topic transition was facilitated through the use of indirect questioning, allowing for expansion into aspects of social inferencing and collaboration. Strategies to support continued utilization of novel language within peer exchanges were acknowledged. Strong session today, as Chris continues to demonstrate increased self awareness and metalinguistic skills.
Richard worked on putting grade 3 vocabulary in alphabetical order. Since we did this activity with other words last week, he was given the opportunity to do it completely independently today. The only 'tool' given to him was to write the alphabet at the top so that he could keep track of the letters and see a visual. 10/14 correct (he only switched two and they were both second letters).
