Kip and I began our session with printing the calendar of assignments for the week and printing the assignments needed to be completed for today. Kip completed fifteen minutes on reading iReady. We began language arts, taking turns reading aloud, "The Terracotta Army" to introduce new vocabulary words. Kip wrote the correct vocabulary word with each definition. I read aloud, "Comparing and Contrasting Two Texts" and then, together, we completed a graphic organizer, comparing and contrasting the two mini texts. For math, Kip completed a math review for a quiz on lesson 15 focusing on area. Kip completed three practice activities, focusing on area. Kip completed multiplication facts. Kip completed fifteen minutes of math iReady. For science, Kip completed an activity in the workbook, pg. 50, "How does something become a fossil?" We then watched a 'Mystery Science' video, "How do we know what dinosaurs looked like?" Kip answered questions determining what each animal ate by observing skull fossils.

Opened up with a light dynamic stretch, followed by a light dynamic warmup. Kelcy and I continued to work on a series of drills and activities that helped him improve his footwork and body control. Each drill had a transition to the next.
Kip and I began our session with a grammar activity, comparing with adjectives. Kip chose the correct adjective to complete each sentence. I then began our religion reading on lesson 8, 'How do we become members of the church?' Kip completed a writing prompt- 'Think of a time where you welcomed someone, just as Jesus welcomes us into the church'. Kip then completed an interactive tutorial for lesson 19, comparing and contrasting two texts, "A Bermuda Triangle Mystery" and "Making the Bermuda Triangle Famous".

Comcast was out so I used my personal laptop and my phone as a hotspot.
Math – We reviewed for a test next Tuesday on Lesson 14 Understanding Areas. Kelcy learned how to relate fractions and whole numbers. He learned that when adding fractions you add the numerators and keep the denominators the same because each whole is still divided into that many pieces. He learned how to find part of a group using a unit fraction.
I began with a review of the sounds deck with visual, auditory, and blending drills. Graphemes included ee, g, it, oo, ph, ea, ur, ai, or, er, ay, oa, ow. I revisited the ow as /ō/ and /ow/ grapheme, dictating words to determine mastery (clown, group, now, plow, snow, grow). I dictated the following irregular words: any, many, from, front, off. I taught the six syllable types as a new concept (closed, open, silent e, r-controlled, vowel team, consonant -le). We played a game of Phonics Dice to reinforce the concepts. We co-read one chapter of the novel, Ranger. To conclude, we played a game of "sight word Jenga."
