Matthew studied his vocabulary for his upcoming test for 5 minutes.
He then submitted his homework. We discussed the homework and the words that he chose to highlight. I showed him the grading process that I use so that he can understand how to perform well on future assignments.
Matthew was then given a brief span of time to study for his Oral Performance. After practicing, he delivered from memory a key passage from his "El Golf" book.
He was given three attempts to attain the highest grade possible. His first attempt would have earned him a high B or low A. He then made a second attempt and earned a near perfect score.
We finished the session by continuing to summarize the paragraphs that we had translated before.
First, we studied for the test and she was given examples of the types of problems that could appear on the test.
Second, she reviewed on her own from her notes.
Third, Bella took the test. She frequently would make guesses out loud. Her guesses were almost always correct but she did not always write down answers pertaining to those good guesses. I encouraged her later to be confident and follow her gut in this class.
Lastly, we reviewed her test together. Bella did an excellent job on her test. My one note would be that it was not the new information from this year that seemed to give her trouble. It was content from Spanish 1 and 2 that seemed to require the most thought. She should review that content.
Matthew was given time to study train and restaurant vocabulary.
He then was tasked with translating a key sentence from the text. Matthew committed the Spanish and English forms of that sentence to memory.
He will be quizzed on his memorization in our next session.
We then read from the text. Matthew must identify all of the words he should define in our new sections prior to our meeting on Monday for a homework grade.
