Bella and I discussed proper note formatting for this class. We then listed the supplies needed to accomplish the goal format.

Bella was then presented with two sets of vocabulary words in context of pictures and stories.

She did an excellent job with the vocabulary.

Lastly, Bella was given time to explore online in Spanish some of the dream activities that she would do if traveling to Miami with some classmates.

She had a wonderful idea of visiting an escape the room puzzle.

Recommendations using the Subjunctive

Matthew was given time to create and study notecards for his new list of vocabulary containing recommendation verbs.

Matthew took a practice quiz at the end of his session. He scored high but not perfect.

Matthew then drew verbs from his deck of cards. He had to write a sentence in the subjunctive mood using whatever card he drew.

We then inventoried Matthew's vocabulary. He was impressed with the number of words that had made it into his deck of vocabulary.

Lastly, Matthew was given an opportunity to explore his textbook. He found his way to a multi-paragraph technical writeup of a cell. We read the entire passage. Matthew did a great job sounding out the new words we encountered.

I then asked him a series of questions about the passage. The questions required him to closely read and understand with enhanced clarity the information being discussed.

At the end of the session, Matthew said that he enjoyed reading what was probably the most technical specimen that he has encountered in Spanish.

I am glad that he had fun.

Matthew listened to the pronunciation of his new vocabulary and sample sentences.

He studied the vocabulary.

He copied two example sentences as paragon examples.

He wrote 3 of his own sentences that were reviewed by me.

We discussed meta-learning methods of checking our levels of understanding.

Matthew and I then explored content in Spanish.

Matthew and I started with a broad-view reading of a text about ants.

We discussed sentence and paragraph structure.

Matthew then found and read extended excerpts of two texts that we have been considering for him to read.

He made a decision between the texts.

We then discussed a mnemonic device for remembering the triggers for the subjunctive.

We dove into the final category of triggers for the subjunctive. We will continue on this topic next class.
