Bella was shown the format for conducting the daily reviews for which she will be responsible.

She then was given a practice quiz to familiarize her with the format of the quizzes in this class. She did a great job on the practice quiz.

We then reviewed the alphabet and regular verb conjugations in the present tense.

Lastly, she was shown the website studyspanish.com. She will have a considerable amount of work to do on this site.

Review Direct Object Pronouns and Imperfect and Preterite Regulars

Matthew led us through our review.

We wrote some sentences using Direct Object Pronouns.

He created some notecards from his 55 Essential verb list.

He then generated verb trees for regular -ar, -er verbs in the preterite and imperfect.

Bella was informed of the critical nature that notecards will play in her class this year.

She was given time to generate notecards from the new vocabulary that she encountered during our last class. We worked on the cards together.

I then explained to her one of the formats of her weekly vocabulary quizzes. She was given a sample problem from one of the more complicated formats.

Lastly, she was asked to evaluate what her personal goals are with the class. She mentioned that she genuinely wants to learn Spanish.

Spanish in the Cocina
Lesson Outline
Belle was guided through a cooking project in Spanish.

Together, we prepared a batch of Salsa. I spoke only Spanish during the entire preparation. She spoke mostly English, but showed an understanding of many of the items being discussed.

Belle did a great job in class today.

We briefly discussed his success on his PERT test and planned a mini-celebration.

Matthew then was led through a review of the direct object pronouns in Spanish.

Indirect Object Pronouns
Lesson Outline
Matthew conducted our lesson review from last class. He continues to get more thorough and confident. His frequency in using Spanish in this activity increases daily.

Matthew was the lead through a review of Indirect Object Pronouns. He did a good job being persistent and getting to the correct final answer.

We the spent a moment discussing metalearning. Matthew was asked to rank his comfort with this subject against others. He decided to flag this topic as a concept that merits further review at the end of our start-of-year review session - time permitting.

Quiz and Stem Changing verbs

Matthew and I had a 2 minute chat in Spanish. I spoke pure Spanish and he spoke a mix of the languages.

He then studied for today’s quiz. He took the quiz and did a wonderful job. It was evident that he had studied hard for the quiz.

We then reviewed e-ie and o-ue verbs. He read 4 passages from the book and completed a relevant exercise.

Lastly, we worked on high value verb trees by playing a game of ping pong.

Review: ir, Ir a and Prepare for Quiz
Lesson Outline
Matthew reviewed the verb Ir and the phrase Ir a. He practiced listening to and responding in Spanish as we emphasized this verb and common phrase.

He also made some note cards for phrases including the power requesting tool Podria tener?

Lastly, he studied for his quiz. We will administer the quiz during his study hour.

Matthew completed his PERT reading from earlier in the day.

We graded the test. He missed 2 out of 30. This is very promising for his upcoming test.

We then reviewed other key concepts for which he is responsible in a Spanish 3 course.

We finished with a verb conjugation game which he seemed to enjoy.

Study Skills: Homework Session
Lesson Outline
Matthew worked on building his list of the Essential 55 Spanish Verbs as per his homework assignment.

He then worked on his Spanish Quizzes. While he was able to complete several of the quizzes, he verbally acknowledged that he is currently just a little behind on this assignment and will need to accelerate his pace of completion if he is to finish on time.
