Jack began by sequencing the alphabet. Next, I asked him to build the following words: pig, big, fig, fit, fat, hat. He put the letters away, counting as he did so. Next, I reviewed the sound deck with visual, auditory, and blending drills. Next, we played a round of sight-word Jenga. To conclude, Jack read a decodable book; I Can See 3.
Goals: Learn about symmetry in drawing and also learn about how to recreate an image using a grid. Use the grids to create symmetrical art and then color it in.
At the end, finish with Minecraft crossword art puzzle.

Jack is so sweet and tries really hard in class. His motor skills are great and he loves to finish the worksheets I give him so he can color them in and complete the drawing.
I taught Jack for one hour today. First, he sequenced the alphabet using manipulative letters. I asked him to build his name and then asked him to make different words by changing one or two sounds (pack, pick, stick, stack). We played several games of Phonics Dice, in which Jack read CVC words. Jack read four decodable books from FlyLeaf publishing. He was very eager to read! To conclude, we played one round of sight-word Jenga.
Jack completed the Stanford Achievement Test. Given word banks of different parts of a sentence, Jack chose and wrote words to make complete sentences. He enjoyed a sound hunt game where he looked for objects that started with given letters and then wrote the name of the word.
To begin, Jack sequenced the alphabet using manipulative letters. He identified the vowels and consonants. I asked him to "build" his name, Jack. Next, I asked him to substitute a letter to build the following: pack, sack, snack, quack. He wanted to build a Minecraft word, blaze, and then substituted the first letter to make maze. I administered the visual drill, which helps with reading, followed by the auditory drill, which helps with spelling. Phonemes for the auditory drill included /p/, /z/, /e/, /x/, /k/. To conclude, we played a game of sight-word Jenga. I was amazed at the number of sight words Jack knows! He told me he learned them from a video called "Meet the Sight Words."

Upon reflection, I do not think that Jack is a good candidate for online learning this summer.
Goals: Use the given worksheet to add up the math problems then follow the key to see what color that number gets painted. This project will help with both addition, learning colors and motor skills such as paint control.

Jack worked really hard and was focused on the project. He was able to successfully complete the worksheet and do all the math problems with little to no assistance.
