Richard continued to work on executive functioning skills with the use of a timer to clean and organize his belongings and pick up trash/scrap paper in his room. The timer was stopped anytime he stopped working then restarted again when he returned to work. Short time segments such as 1-2 minutes appear to be most helpful to him at this time. Richard continues to demonstrate good finger positioning and correct finger use on keys with minimal verbal cues and increased time during keyboarding. He is currently working on Reach out letters O, B, and A with 86% average accuracy and 8 WPM.
Richard began his session with a fine motor warm up of pencil aerobics (pencil pushups and inchworm) 10 times each. He completed mazes to work on visuals perception/motor skills with good accuracy. He continues to present with limited thumb DIP mobility which can result in thumb fatigue and pain when writing for long periods of time. It is recommended that he continues to use an adaptive pencil grip for correct positioning when writing.
Richard had a great last session. He worked on TH words in conversation and in sentences. He also worked on 2 listening comprehension passages. Met with Richard’s mother and went over progress and goals. He has been a pleasure to work with this year! He met 4/5 goals.
Richard compared movies to books and discussed all the details that are in a book. He met with Kellan to read Dog Man together. They discussed the comic they are doing together.
