Will decided that he did not want to have the x-wing in the image. He removed the power lines, which were visible in the original photo. He added the t-fighter and finalized his composition. We began to construct a laser beam from the fighter to the drone.

Will completed his Photoshop homework assignment with a great deal of skill. I showed him how to place his drone onto the sky background, and paint the edges to match the sky. He used the stamp tool to make the drone appear to have been in the original image.

Will decided that adding an x-wing fighter to his composition would give it more drama, so he used the magic wand and the eraser tool to separate the background from an image of an X-fighter. He then added the fighter to the Photoshop document of the drone and t-fighter, before his time was over.

Will and I examined his homework assignment. He did an exceptionally excellent job. To illustrate the concept of individual, he provided a photo of his dog Cameron, and photo of his dog Wally, a photo of his tortoise Alex, and a photo of a seagull. To illustrate the concept of population he provided an image of two ducks, a photo of both dogs together, and a photo of pondweed. To illustrate the concept of community, he provided a photo of two ducks and an anhinga standing in a large pile of pondweed. He also illustrated an ecosystem by using the same image but pulled back to include the pond and the rocky shore of the pond. His work was so excellent; I chose a few to print for the photo wall.

Will used the magic wand and the eraser tool to separate the background from an image of a t-fighter. He then chose an image he had taken of Stephen’s drone, last fall. He adjusted the size of the original photo and used the crop tool. He then copied the drone. He added his t-fighter to the Photoshop document before his time was over.

photo/biology homework-
Due to a severe weather event, this class was truncated. During what time we did have, Will and I discussed his homework assignment. He was concerned that he could not complete the assignment and it was too hard. I told him he did not have to have three examples, but only one, and I assured him that if he could not do the project, we can do it together on Tuesday. I suggested that he take a photo of his dog, another photo of both dogs, and a third of both dogs and the turtle, and he would have completed the assignment. We discussed how one dog is an individual, two dogs are a population, and add the turtle and that makes a community. I would consider that a complete group. I also suggested that a yard of grass, equals a population, as that is many of the same plant. We talked about other examples of each group. I also told him he could use non-living things to represent each group (checkers, chessmen and a checker board is a good example of an ecosystem). Homework: take one photo of an example of each: individual, population, community. - and ecosystem if possible.
Assignment

Will was given an old photo, which suffered from scratches and dust prior to digitization. He was tasked with finding and erasing dust and scratches. Afterwards, he and I examined the digital photos we have on his computer. He chose two images that could be combined to tell a story. He will attempt the project during our next class. Homework: photograph 3 different individuals, populations, communities and ecosystems. He needs to present one photo of each (9 total photos). Due Tuesday, January 19
