Review of lines and circles
Lesson Outline
I worked with Jaydn to calculate the angles and line segment lengths found when lines intersect inside or near a circle. By working with the same formulas for different diagrams, I was helping her to identify the requirements for using the different formulas. There was no assignment.

The British Musical Invasion in the 1960s
Lesson Outline
The rebellious tone and image of US rock and roll and blues musicians became popular with British kids in the late 1950s. Young British groups started to combine various British and American styles in different parts of the United Kingdom, such as the movement in Liverpool known as Merseybeat or the "beat boom".
While US acts were popular in the United Kingdom, few British acts had achieved any success in the US prior to 1964. But everything changed when the Beatles debuted on the Ed Sullivan Show in the US in 1964. We viewed clips from this historic event as well as other British Invasion musical acts that took not only Americans, but the world by storm.

Review of intersections of secants inside or near circles
Lesson Outline
I guided Jaydn through the solutions of angles and line segment lengths of secants which intersect inside or near circles. I explained how the different formulas are used to find the correct answers for the different cases of intersections including secants, tangents, and intersections inside the circles. There was no assignment.

Educated/A memoir
Lesson Outline
I discussed the connotative distinction between a memoir and an autobiography and reviewed the term point of view. Jayden discussed the use of the first person narrative in the novel .I then pointed out the epigraphs at the beginning of the novel and discussed the use of epigraphs in literature. We analyzed one epigraph and discussed how the quoted material related to the perceptions that form a memoir or autobiography . In that regard, I explained the difference between a narrative contained in a diary and a retrospective narrative . We then read to the end of chapter 6. During our reading ,I defined any words unfamiliar to Jaydn.

The Age of Television
Lesson Outline
We looked at some of television's major milestones. Beginning in the 1960s, the landscape of television changes with the first televised presidential debates between Kennedy and Nixon. Television brought the horrors of the Vietnam war into peoples' homes. Television also brought the joy, sights and sounds of the British musical invasion when the Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. In 1968, Americans were horrified to see an escalation of the Vietnam War, and immediate news of the assassinations of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy - just 2 months apart in the spring of that year. Television ended the decade in wonder as people in the US and around the world watched the first astronaut, Neil Armstrong, walk on the moon.

Solving Problems with secants and tangents intersecting in or near circles
Lesson Outline
Jaydn and I solved some practice problems with secants and tangents intersecting in or near circles. I reminded her how some problems required solutions of missing angles while others required the calculation of missing lengths of line segments. We worked on some review problems from the chapter summary. There was no assignment.
