Lesson Comments
Jack was outside hiding at the start of the session. He seemed very out of sorts. He refused to go inside and was not making safe and/or good choices. One of several unsafe choices was attempting to throw dirt at me. We went inside the last 10 minutes of class and he refused to start lesson. I did not give him signatures.

Heroes
Lesson Outline
At the beginning of class, we looked over a study guide I had prepared for an upcoming test Jack will be given on Thursday about state, local and tribal governments. Jack's responses to queries indicated a solid understanding of the information we've covered. He volunteered that he also knows a lot about government and current events because his dad watches the news a lot. I then introduced the topic of heroes and explained heroes as people who make the world better for other people. We discussed how heroes help communities. Jack was encouraged to reflect on some people he considers his everyday heroes. We discussed that history is filled with heroes - men and women who fought for the freedoms we enjoy every day and listed some of the freedoms. This lesson served as a precursor to continuing our study of American heroes since the story of their lives can afford us a better understanding of how people solve problems and create positive changes in their communities and the world.

Lesson Comments
Jack had a difficult time staying on task. He was very distracted by the work that another student was doing. He was redirected to focus on his work and not to mess with the students' stuff. Jack eventually got his hands on some shaving cream, for the other student, and hid it behind his back. I asked him to give it back and he refused. I had to take the shaving cream him and reminded him again not to touch things that did not belong to him. When the bell rang for the next class Jack grabbed the mouse for my computer and began messing with my computer. I reminded him for a third time not to touch things that do not belong to him. I made a note of his behavior on his behavior chart. I will work with Jack in his office and work on non-technology assignments until Jack can prove that he can make better choices.
