Elle and I went outside to check the weather. Then using a weather activity which I had created for her, she described the weather in French into a journal notebook. This activity lasted 20 minutes. When we returned, Elle and I played the Bingo game with numbers in French for 15 minutes. We then played scrabble in English for the remainder of our time together. Although we created words in English, I had her tell me whatever words she knew in French. The words she did not know, I told her the French equivalent. She seemed to enjoy increasing her French vocabulary in this fashion. Elle is a very good language arts student. She effortlessly created words from her “letter bank” throughout the entire game.

10 minutes - review of greetings and salutations.
25 minutes - reviewed nouns of the city then tested the nouns via a game - Bingo. Using a Bingo board filled with a different city noun in each box, I said a city noun in English and Elle said the noun in French. She then put a star in that box. We played this game twice. Elle knew the names of all the nouns without having to look at the “city map” she had made. She did well and received a “100” for this test.
25 minutes - we reviewed numbers 1 thru 49. Then using a Bingo board, Elle filled in any number she wanted between 10 and 49. I called a number in French and Elle searched for it on her bingo board. Elle had difficulty remembering the numbers at first and had to reference her activity sheet. We played the game a second time and she did better but still needed to look up quite a few of the numbers on her activity sheet. She received a “78” for this test. Elle needs to review her numbers for homework.

Elle arrived late. When she arrived, she saw teacher Bobbi and went into her room where there was another student, rather than going to her own room where I was waiting for her. I was walking to the front door to tell Elise that Elle hadn't shown up today when I saw her. We had only 7 minutes left by the time I could get her back to her own room.

Also that dinner is at 8 p.m. Ecole = school; schools in France do not have the same schedule as those in the U.S., etc. Elle repeated the French words many times during this activity.

Elle was very resistant to beginning her lesson today. She insisted that she needed to speak with her friend Kate. I gave them a few minutes to talk then asked Elle to come back into her own room so that we could get started. She refused and I asked Tara to speak with her. I later learned that Elle was very anxious over both the amount of time and the subjects she had on her schedule.
