Lesson Comments
Jess felt like she had trouble with last night's homework assignment, but as we reviewed, I realized that it was not so much that she had trouble understanding the material as it was that she had some issues with her calculator working properly. Jess received a 103 (93 plus 10 points for bonus problem) on her test. Jess was tired today but attentive.

The Wife of Bath
Lesson Outline
1) Discuss the end of the Wife of Bath's Prologue: What happens between the Wife of Bath and Janekin? Why, in spite of their problems does the W.O.B contend that her 5th husband was in the end her favorite? What does this reveal about the woman's ideal marital-match?
2)Oral Quiz on the Wife of Bath's Tale: What is the subject of the tale? Is the tale's content consistent with the woman's character as revealed in the Prologue and the General Prologue?
3) Discuss the Wife of Bath's Tale: Video of Tale for Clarity. Discussion Questions: What is the moral of the W.O.B'S story? Do you believe that women today desire sovereignty over men? Why/why not? What is particularly heinous about the crime that the Knight committed? Why is a woman only worth as much as her marital prospects? In the end, does the Knight let his wife make her own decisions out of charity or desperation?

Lesson Comments
Jess struggled a bit on the homework last night. She seemed to be over-analyzing. I think as she understands the material more (after covering 3.2 today), she will have less trouble with 3.1. 3.1 gives some of the basics, but it can be tough to understand without the deeper knowledge from the rest of the chapter.
