Libby continued to work on yesterday's lesson on how to model putting together. She listened to word problems, identified and circled the important numerical information needed to solve the problem, wrote the corresponding number sentences, drew counters to model the addends, and found the sums.
This morning, Teddy completed the mid-chapter checkpoint to assess his understanding of the lessons so far on using pictures to add, model adding to, model putting together, and problem-solving. He did a great job answering the questions perfectly. Then, Teddy worked on a cut-and-paste enrichment activity on recognizing if addition equations with sums to 20 were true or false.
Libby completed the final fast facts on adding 1 and earned a completion certificate. Then, she worked on today's lesson on how to model putting together. Libby listened to word problems, identified and circled the important numerical information needed to solve the problem, wrote the corresponding number sentences, drew counters to model the addends, and found the sums.
Teddy completed the final fast facts on adding 1 and earned the completion award. Then, we applied our recent lessons on addition concepts to using a bar model to show and solve problems. Teddy listened to addition word problems, circled the needed information, determined the question that needed to be answered, filled in a bar model, wrote number sentences, and solved problems.

Lesson Comments
During today's Math tutoring session, Nico was very attentive and clearly followed the several techniques of converting fractions to decimals and vice versa. It is very gratifying to be working with Nico again.
This morning, Remington worked on daily review questions and completed the missing numbers in the 400s chart from our lesson earlier this week. Then, we continued to work on understanding how to use known doubles facts to find sums for near doubles facts. Finally, Remington solved a 3-digit addition without regrouping problem on the whiteboard.
This morning, Remington completed the final fast facts check on adding 1 before beginning our lesson on doubles facts. The doubles facts 1 through 10 and their sums were randomly written on the whiteboard, and Remington drew lines to connect them correctly. Then, we made flashcards for the few doubles facts that were not easily recalled. Finally, we discussed how to use doubles facts to find sums for near doubles.
Teddy began with the daily fast facts on adding 1. Then, he completed today's lesson on how to model putting together. Teddy listened to word problems, identified and circled the important numerical information needed to solve the problem, wrote the corresponding number sentences, and found the sums. Finally, we worked on an enrichment activity on understanding the equal sign and making true equations. Teddy used flashcards with addition expressions, single digits, and an equal sign to create true equations. Then, he checked his work by performing the addition on one side of the equal sign to see if it matched the value on the other side.
Libby began with daily fast facts on adding 1 before completing yesterday's lesson on how to model adding using tools. Then, we worked on an enrichment activity on understanding the equal sign and making true equations. Libby used flashcards with addition expressions, single digits, and an equal sign to create true equations. Then, she checked her work by performing the addition on one side of the equal sign to see if it matched the value on the other side.
