Lesson Comments
Sebastian was on the couch when class started at 9am, he was playing games on his ipad with Mercer. When I went to get him he switched to doing something for film class, saying he had to do it because it was due for tomorrow. I informed him the rules about his ipad again and how he would have to work on it in film class not science class. After that it was hard to get him to work on the assignment during class, as he kept staring off when I asked him to record the data we were collecting online. He noticed he didn't have a new water bottle with his lunch box so said he 'had' to text her to bring him one. After 5 minutes with no answer he then proceeded to facetime her (video call) though she did not pick up. He was further frustrated by this.
Child seen at school for a half hour treatment session. Treatment focused on executive functioning, regulation of fine motor skills, and graphomotor development. Today we worked on a following directions activity. At first Sebastian required directions to be repeated in order to complete instruction accurately. Once he got the hang of what he was supposed to do he was able to follow "before...then....." direction with 100% accuracy. Wrote his first name well in cursive. Worked on letters "g" and "q" in cursive to improve his letter formations and recall fo formations. Also worked on letter "f" in cursive. Good session.
Assignment
Write first name in cursive on every sheet of paper you do.
Sebastian seen at school for a half hour OT treatment session with focus on improving his executive functioning, regulation, fine motor skills and strength as well as his graphomotor skills. Upon arrival Sebastian room appeared more organized. He was able to write his first name well in cursive with minimal verbal cues and min corrections - a visual example was provided. When writing his name he wrote the letter "t" and letter "i" in cursive the same size. He needed to be instructed to make the "t" taller than the "i". He was able to write the letter "a-g" lower case in cursive well. He needed assistance only with the lower case letter "g" when writing this group of letters.
Assignment
Continue to practice cursive.Wrirte your name in cursive everyday.
Sebastian seen at school or a half hour treatment session with the focus of OT on improving executive function, fine motor skills, regulation and graphomotor development. Today we worked on a following directions activity. He did not initiate tasks until OT started reading the directions aloud to him. OT read directions 1-8. He had mixed results following directions. For example, when he was instructed to write his name in the botton right hand corner of the paper he wrote it on the top left hand side where it said name instead. It seems like he is only actively listening to part of the verbal directions given. Again, he would benefit from having directions repeated and being told to repeat back the direction given.
